By Carol A. Feuerman. Installed at the northern tip of the long awaited and recently opened Lieutenant Petrosino Square (it’s actually a triangle, but whatever), this hyper-realistic and large installation never fails to stop people in their tracks as they cross Lafayette Street and Cleveland Place at Spring Street. Survival of Serena first debuted at the 2007 Venice Biennale and went on to win first prize at the Beijing Biennale the following year. It’s an unexpected and wonderful addition to this insanely bustling and culturally rich neighborhood.
